- The 2002 draft was most represented on 2011 MLB opening day rosters with 66 players. The 2004 and 2006 drafts had 65 players each. The 2005 draft was right behind with 64 players.
- Almost half (49.2%) of players were drafted between 2002 and 2006.
- Each year, approximately 1,500 players are drafted and approximately 1,000 players sign. In 2010, 1525 players were drafted and 992 players signed. The study reveals that no more than 66 signed players from any draft year were on opening day rosters so less than 7% of signed players from any year’s drafted class can expect to be on MLB rosters at the same time.
