More Than Half Of MLB Players Were Drafted And Signed Out Of College

  • A study of players on 2012 MLB opening day rosters reveals that 51.6% were drafted and signed out of college, 23.6% were drafted and signed out of high school, 23.1% were international free agent signs, and 1.6% were undrafted free agent signs with one player (Yunel Escobar) selected after defecting from Cuba.
